CALIFORNIA (July 26) – As part of its annual summer camp, the California University of Pennsylvania cross country program is hosting a free lecture featuring two-time Olympian Amy Rudolph and American-record holder Chris Solinsky.
The
FREE event, which is open to the public, is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of
Old Main on campus. Those interested in attending the event are encouraged to utilize the free parking available in
Lot 4.
A native of Pennsylvania,
Rudolph competed in the 5,000-meter run at both the 1996 (Atlanta) and 2000 (Sydney) Olympics. She was a six-time U.S. Champion and was the former American record holder in the 5,000 meters. Rudolph captured eight state championships, was a NCAA national champion at Providence and was a member of the United States team that finished second at the 2002 World Cross Country Championships.
Solinsky broke the American record in the 10,000-meter run in 2010 (
watch the last 800 meters - 1:56.2) and was ranked third in the world that same year. He also won the 2002 Foot Locker Championship by tying the largest margin of victory and later won five NCAA national titles at Wisconsin.
