INDIANAPOLIS (April 26) – A day after winning its second-straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, the California University of Pennsylvania women's golf team was selected to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division II Super Regional One Championship from May 2-4 at the
Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.
The regional championship features nine teams from the East Region, along with four individuals from within the region. All participants will compete through 54 holes of competition. The top three teams along with the three individuals not with a team from each super regional will advance to the National Championships, which will be held May 12-15 in Mesa, Ariz., at the Longbow Golf Club.
The Vulcans were the only the team from the PSAC to be selected to the regional championship in 2010. The regional field features two of the premier teams in the nation in Grand Valley State and Indianapolis, both of who finished among the top three teams at last year's National Championships.
Cal U has won its last two tournaments and has finished among the top three in the team standings six times this season. Last year while hosting the regional championship, the Vulcans finished only three shots back of earning their first berth to the NCAA Championships.
