LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 9) – After posting back-to-back low scores for the Vulcans, California University of Pennsylvania
Jenna Rothermel (Danville, Pa./Danville) was tabbed the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
Rothermel has been the Vulcans’ top scorer at both season-opening invitationals, averaging a team-best 78.5 strokes per round. She opened the fall season on Saturday with a 12-over 156 (80-76) at the Ferris State (Mich.) Invitational to finish in a tie for 13th place in a field of over 100 golfers. Rothermel helped lead Cal U to a fourth-place team finish in the 18-team round.
The Danville, Pa., native then carded a 14-over 158 (79-79) to finish tied for ninth at the Grand Valley (Mich.) Fall Classic, which concluded on Tuesday. She helped guide the Vulcans to a sixth-place showing at the 16-team round.
In 12 events last season, Rothermel registered eight top-20 finishes, including a medalist performance at the Ashland Invitational.
This marks the first career PSAC honor for Rothermel.
