LATROBE, Pa. (April 16) – Senior Brian Batko (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) shot a seven-over 79 to lead the California University of Pennsylvania men's golf team on Thursday at the Bearcat Invitational, which was hosted by Saint Vincent College at the par-72 Latrobe Country Club.

The Vulcans finished the 14-team event in eighth place after carding a 43-over 331. Clarion University claimed a 10-stroke victory over host Saint Vincent at 16-over 304. The Bearcats' Doug Mehall won medalist honors at one-under 71.

Batko finished in a tie for 10th place with a seven-over 79. Sophomore Eric Smith (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim Township) shot a 10-over 82 to finish tied for 26th overall, while freshman Paul Babashanian (Chesapeake, Va./Great Bridge) finished with an 11-over 83 and tied for 33rd place.

Newcomer Lance George shot a 15-over 87 to finish tied for 48th overall, while freshman Austin Stoddard (Pittsfield, Pa./Youngsville) rounded out the Cal U golfers with a 17-over 89.
