Kling named PSAC Freshman of the Year

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Dec. 3) – California University of Pennsylvania runner Erin Kling (Jamestown, N.Y./Jamestown) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Cross Country Freshman of the Year on Wednesday, announced the league office.

Kling was the top finisher among all freshmen competing at both the PSAC and NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships this year. In her first season with the program, she was the Vulcans' top runner in all six races she competed in and never finished outside the top 25 overall.

A native of Jamestown, N.Y., she captured her first individual title at the Penn State Behrend Invitational in only her second college race and also finished second overall in two other invitationals.

Kling became the first Cal U runner to earn all-conference honors in 25 years as she finished 13th overall at the 2009 PSAC Championships in Edinboro, Pa. She also placed 17th overall in a field of over 150 runners at the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships.
