LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Oct. 14) – After helping lead the Vulcans to the invitational title at the Holiday Inn Colonial Classic yesterday, California University of Pennsylvania freshman
Maria Lopez (Bogota, Colombia/English School) was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Athlete of the Week by the league office on Wednesday.
Lopez finished the two-round event with a 22-over 166 (87-79) to place fourth overall in a field of 29 golfers. Behind her fourth-place finish, Cal U earned the invitational crown by 10 strokes while playing against four NCAA Division I programs.
Playing in all five events this fall, Lopez has posted three top-10 finishes during her freshman campaign. She joins teammates
Dianne Luke (Mirisarawak, Malaysia/Saint Columba) and
Jenna Rothermel (Danville, Pa./Danville) as Cal U recipients of the PSAC honor this fall.
